Main body in red, colorwork with black. Cast on with a long-tail cast-on using the black yarn as the “tail” and the red as the “working yarn,” then knit 2x2 ribbing in the red.

Gauge too loose and I’m not willing to go tighter as this is slightly heavier yarn than called for. I’m just going to take out one repeat instead (and switch to 3x3 ribbing to accommodate the change).

It ended up being a bit taller and narrower than ideal, but considering that I didn’t check gauge, it’s pretty good. With the brim folded up, it’s pretty much perfect and quite warm.
