Notes

This is a compilation of my favourite links.

Ravelry has a wonderful Knooking Group.

Lets Get Started!

By the way to see if knooking is for you I would advise you to try this before you buy. At the end of a crochet hook, cellotape a cord and now knook by following a video below… what do you think?

If you need cord replacement or extra long cord for a Shawl, this Celebrate cord is great but others also use ribbon. I bought my Celebrate cord from my local Hobbycraft.

Remember any knitting patterns are knookable!

Cast-on: Usually we just crochet chain then pick up stitches to knook but this crochet cast-on do both in one go! Just replace the knitting needles with a Khook.

Long tail cast-on: Just replace the knitting needle with your knooking hook. Once you have the required amount of stitches just slide them on your cord. Or if it’s a long cast-on, just slide your stitches as you go along. If you’re worried they might slide off just put a clamp on the end of your cord or tight a loose knot at the end :)

Eastern Style knooking. My favourite style!

Knooking in circle
Because I only pull my cord out after each round I don’t use a stitch marker! I do have a longer cord :)
I like the way she increases her stitches at the crown :)

Increases in German but visual make sense!
1st she M1 increased like FlutterbyeFaery, then on the other end she Kfb, knook front & back.

Decreases
1st side she knook is SSK & the other side is K2tog, I like her k2tog :)

Short Rows video in German.

Several Knookers have provided tutorial for;

Tips from me, SSK is just like a crochet decrease.
For the K2tog use a stitch holder to lift the stitch. Mind you the german video is easier. Depend on the pattern you could replace some K2tog with SSK which to my opinion easier to knook ^_^

Making Bobble, left-hander.

Knooking in the round. I don’t use marker like her, I only pull my cord out when I complete a round thus keeping tab of my round! So yes I have different length of cords (a big circular project will need a longer cord so it can double up on itself.
I use Celebrate cord and to seal the ends just burn them slightly and squeeze-rub ^_^

Socks: ChainMale just shared this video about knooking socks.

DKnooking is for doubleknitting. It’s magical to knook two images simultaneously! There’s no YouTube on how to knook it yet but this is my process for DK.
