I had some yarn left from my Ornamental Tunic and wanted to knit a summer top out of it. It had to be something simple and easy. Looking for suitable patterns I found this nice top from Drops Design. My decision was made.

Modifications:

I made a longer body.

As I didn’t want to show too much skin in the armholes area, I decided to modify the shaping by making fewer decreases and making all of them every 4th row (instead of every other row, as called for). At the end, I had 40 stitches left on both the front and back piece (instead of 30), therefore I casted on only 2 stitches on each side (instead of 12) to form the “straps” and join the two pieces together.

The armholes were a bit too wide, so I took them in by picking up the stitches around them and casting them off immediately thereafter (on the next row).

I am very happy with how the top has turned out. The only negative point is that the yarn is very nice to look at, but definitely too warm for the extremely high temperatures that we are suffering in Madrid these days. But this is my fault, of course; I should have foreseen it.
