13th November 2011: So far I have finished the back and am about to finish the front (just a few rows from neck shaping). I am fighting against cat hairs all the time, this wool attracts them like crazy. Or is it the colour? I bought 20 balls of wool and thought that they would be more than enough for this project, but I am not sure anymore. I am afraid that I will have to buy at least two more balls and it will be difficult to find the same dye lot number…
23rd November 2011: Front, back and collar are completed, front and back have been joined and sewn together up to where the cuffs begin, and now I am working on the cuffs. I didn’t know that I have such long arms… When I started knitting this poncho, I cast on for size X-small/small and due to my gauge the finished measurements of front and back correspond to size medium/large. One of the cuffs is almost finished, but although I have made it longer than established (over 19 cm), it is still too short for me. So I have left the stitches on hold and now I am knitting on the other one. I have begun the 20th (and last) ball of wool that I have available and hope that I will have enough to make both cuffs as long as I want them to be. And I am still fighting against cat hairs. I hope to be able to remove all of them before and after washing and that the poncho (for me it is more like a big pullover) will look like new.
29th November 2011: The poncho/big pullover has been washed and lying flat to dry since Sunday. It has grown a lot but I am confident that it will shrink back to the right size while drying (fingers crossed).
16th December 2011: I have worn it today for the first time. Finally I could complete it without having to buy more yarn, but I had just enough to finish it (I had only about 30 cm left). I am absolutely happy with my poncho; it is comfortable, cozy and I am sure that I will wear it a lot.
