When I completed this tunic back in June of this year I was not very happy with it… it was too long, covered my knees (although I am quite tall) and looked more like a dress, but not a flattering one, at least on me.

A few days later I decided to shorten the garment at the bottom; I opened the side seams, removed about one rhombus and a half from both the front and the back, picked up the stitches and knit about five cm in stockinette from the top down, ending with four rows of garter stitch.

Then I didn’t like the neckline… it was too high and I found that it didn’t look summery enough. I removed the sleeves, opened the shoulder seams and ribbed the front to begin the neckline a few rows earlier than called for in the pattern.

And the sleeves…. well, from the moment I read the pattern I found that the construction of the sleeves was very strange. Had I followed the pattern, there would have been plenty of space in one sleeve for my two underarms together. Therefore I cast on significantly less stitches and knitted the sleeves and the sleeve caps differently, in a more classic way.

Finally, I made a different crochet finishing (a more simple one).

I like the final result, BUT I am disappointed with the yarn… the two garments that I have knitted with Drops Bomull-Lin so far have lost about 7 cm in width and also in length during the first wash (cold water, gentle cycle). I will wash the tunic again and block it as aggressively as I can, because I want it a bit wider and longer.
