I had two skeins of Wollmeise Merino DK wool in my stash and was looking for a suitable project, something that would not require too much yarn. I found this lovely cardigan and started knitting, looking forward to holding the finished project in hands.

Had I known that at the end I would have almost half a skein left, I would have done the optional A-line shaping, but I omitted it because I was afraid that I would not have enough yarn.

The first time I tried the cardigan on, my enthusiasm flew away. I found that the color and style didn’t flatter me at all and that the cardigan was too small, and way too short. However, I forced myself to complete it, hoping that washing and blocking it would help. In fact, it stretched a bit both in width and in length, but I was still unhappy with it. When I showed it to my daughter, she immediately told me that she liked it, so I gave it to her. Otherwise I am sure that I would have put it on the donation pile…

The sleeves are a bit short for her long arms, but she doesn’t care; I will however try to stretch them the next time I wash the cardigan.

If I ever knit it again (I don’t think so, but one never knows) I will definitely choose the next bigger size or another, thicker yarn.
