I know, I know… I am late to the party, as always.

BEATRIX isn’t a very popular pattern right now, it was designed quite a few years ago and nobody seems to be knitting it anymore, but I have always wanted to knit this beautiful jacket. It has been in my queue for a long, long time, a couple of years ago I even bought - only for this purpose - Kim Hargreave’s book on Ebay (the price was ridiculous), but I never found the right moment to start knitting it.

Finally, in January of this year I thought “it’s now or never”, I bought the wool and started knitting Beatrix in February.

I wanted to make sure that the jacket wouldn’t turn out too large, therefore I went for the smallest size and 3 mm needles, although I consider myself a tight knitter. That is probably the reason why the peplum has turned out a bit shorter than it should be. Also, the pleats are not as pronounced as desired; the next time I wash my Beatrix I will effort myself to carefully pin them into shape, especially those of the back piece.

But other than that I am really happy with my new jacket. It may not be en vogue at the moment, but I think that it is a classic and elegant design (as almost all of Kim’s designs are) that will never go out of fashion (on the other hand, if I like a garment, I wear it, regardless of whether it is out of fashion or not).

I have worn Beatrix today, November 13th, 2020 for the first time.
