I must confess that I didn’t pay special attention to this pattern the first time I saw it, but when I discovered this version, my interest suddenly awoke:

I found it simply gorgeous and thought that I could try to knit a similar one with 11 balls of Rowan Lima wool that I had in my stash and that I didn’t know what to knit with. I wanted the cardigan to be long and the sleeves to be as long as possible. Would 11 balls of wool be enough?

This cardigan was a pleasure to knit; the pattern is explained very well. I made the stockinette stitch part of the body a bit longer (about 10 cm) before starting with the lace part. According to the pattern, the lace part should be knitted with a smaller needle size. I did so, but the result didn’t convince me and I started again with the same needles that I had used before.

Although the main body piece of my cardigan was clearly longer than established, when knitting the side panels I made “only” 18 pattern repeats (as called for), because I was still afraid that I wouldn’t have enough wool. While sewing them to the body main piece I had to stretch them a bit to adapt them to the length of the other piece, but everything went well and I am happy with how it has turned out. And I have used up to the last meter of wool (there were only a few cm left).
