Photo 1: Improvised design using 3 skeins: enough yarn for the hat & scarf set pictured and 1 additional (smaller) scarf (not pictured), all crocheted with the SMC Northern Chunky. This was my 1st time working with this yarn & I liked it. As a side note, on the label it has the “Coats” brand logo.

Photo 2: Although hats are not required for the 60/60 Challenge, I wanted to make another hat/scarf set since it will be donated to my local Salvation Army center. The “pony” hat was designed by me using a stitch pattern in Kristen Omdahl’s book, “Seamless Crochet.” The “pony” hat will allow a girl to pull her locks through the hat opening; to seam the brim stitching closed, I used the “Poor Man Join” technique. The scarf is basic hdc stitches with matching stripes and twisted fringe.

11/5/12: Although not all are photographed, total Scarves-to-date I’ve crocheted for the 2012 Challenge _15_; most with matching hats (not required for the challenge).
