Notes

This gorgeous sweater / vest is styled with a bounty of cables and plentiful texture, front and back, from top to bottom. It’s simple to execute and intricate enough to entertain the advanced knitter.

If you’re knitting this with a deadline in mind, allow extra time. The many, many cables will surely slow your normal knitting pace.

I chose to do the vest version, which finishes nicely with cap-style sleeves, once the ribbing edge is added. I wanted a high collar to offset the cap sleeves, so knit 50 rows of the 2x2 ribbing.

The torso is knit without any shaping decreases or increases, so it’s easy. The ample cables allow the sweater to hug the body for a shapely and fitted display.

The pattern has plenty of positive ease so knit a size smaller or use a smaller gauge to get a tighter fit.

NOTES:

I ran short of yarn…so finish date was delayed by 2 weeks.

Separated front from back - 11” (row 105 from ribbed band)

Modifications:

  • Used Kitchener stitch to graft the shoulders for a seamless join
  • Turtleneck collar: knitted 50 rows in 2x2 rib to offset the cap sleeves

Final measurements:
Hem to armpit - 11”
Armpit to shoulder - 6”
Collar height (folded) - 2 ¼“
Entire length - 19 ¼”
