Notes

My needles are Boye size 6, 4.25 mm. I’m getting 5 stitches and 7.5 rows in an inch. I’m using up yarn from my stash so I have two partial balls of Lion Brand Wool Ease in two different shades of green. I think these colors are Avocado and Loden (which I think is a discontinued color). This is a bit of a fishing expedition since I don’t know what I’m doing but I know what I WANT to do. I want to make a bigger hat but not a giant hat.

I’m going to start off with a cast on of 96 this time.

10/9/18 3:30 am - I finished 4” of ribbing and I’m going to start the body of the hat now with the other shade of green. Since I have 96 stitches I’m going to do knit 12, M1 for the first round.

10/10/18 9:40 pm - I finished the body of the hat. I was thinking about making it longer since my first hat was about 4 inches short on my son but I decided not to after I measured the distance from his ear to where it would start to taper in. It does look like it should be about 5 inches.

Round -1 - Knit 11, K2tog, repeat to end of round. 96 stitches

Round 0 - knit to end of round and then follow the rest of the pattern.

I finished my hat at 2:30 in the morning. Would I be a bad mom if I woke my big headed son up to have him try it on? I am horrible at waiting.
