Let’s just all the first hat a pretty mistake. I didn’t find a label on the blue yarn but it felt very much like the baby blue of the second hat so I am listing that one above.

Before I get to the error of my way, I want to give credit to those who led me to the hat. First, LoomaHat had this hat listed in the loomed hats. I chose it because it stated the yellow loom. I clicked on that hat and it took me to: http://www.millyandtilly.com/2010/11/loom-knit-hatt-patte... From that site I was referred to: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/kellys/spiral-hat . Thank you to all of you who led me to this fun hat.

Okay. Here are the instructions on Milly and Tilly’s page: Instructions:

  1. Cast on using your method of choice.
  2. Rows 1-10: k2, p2; rep from until one peg remains, k last peg.
  3. Rows 11-finish: k, yo, p2tog, k; rep from until desired length.
  4. Gather the last row of stitches and tie tightly to complete your hat.

I was okay until I got to #3. I didn’t know how to YO on a loom. I searched YouTube until it had been explained to be well enough. I thought. Then I kept getting lost as to which stitch I was on. For the first hat I choose to YO by laying the yarn on the now empty peg. Kind of how you do when making the flat knit but you do nothing else to that bit of yarn but go to the next peg and purl the two loops together. So that turned out to be easy but looked far different than the hat in the picture on the website. Still, I kind of liked how it looked so I continued.

From the first 10 rounds I had all the knits marked. I noticed that this new stitch had two knits together at almost the same place as those k2s. Except on this new stitch we were moving the knits back one. I’d wind the two knits. The second one would already have a marker. I’d bring the second from that set to the first of the set I just wound. I hope that makes sense as it was how I was able to stay consistent. Now that I am doing a wrap on the empty peg instead of laying the yarn over it, I am still using that method to stay on track. This second hat is looking more like the one on the website. I’ll post it when I am finished.
