9Nov: This is a great pattern, a really nice slim fit on top which is necessary for such a bulky yarn. There’s even a pretty little cuff detail with a button. Bravo, Kim.
8 skeins with a little left from the 8th, 2 weeks exactly from one Montreal Knits meeting to the next!
29Oct: Another project from that incredible Smiley’s Yarn Big Wool ‘fell-off-the-truck’(?) sale. I liked this sweater in the book instantly. Though I can tell that the button band will probably not drape the same as the rest of the garment… I’ve never been able to figure out how to deal with that. Also, I’m positive it’s better in solid colors, but I wasn’t going to pass up this sale, no no no.
I was not sure about what size to make, since it is an a-line sweater: I didn’t want to be swimming in the bottom hem. So, I compromised and cast on the XS number of stitches and stopped my decreases at the S number of stitches. The rest is done in small, except, of course, to lengthen the sleeves for the monkey in me.
I knit a ton on US17 until I bothered to look at it and saw that it was 20cm wider than it should have been. whoops. I’m not a particularly off-gauge knitter, so I would really recommend to you all to start on at most US15s. Fortunately, my Faroe Wrap was in double moss stitch and I could guess the right needle size by measuring it. I $#%^ hate swatching, you see.
** The measurements on the schematic are not depicted correctly for the body. The numbers refer to the bust measurements, not the bottom of the sweater.
