Notes

(NOTE: I ran out of Bottle Green, Bilberry and Seafarer and used other tweed yarns in my stash to make up for it. So the quantities shown for those colors is not accurate.)

Release 1: Long-tail cast-on, 45cm of yarn needed in tail. It’s amazing how many ways I messed up these squares. Too few rows, too many rows, too few stitches, too many stitches… Over and over!

Release 2: I decided to try this one on my standard gauge machine (tension 9). I didn’t lean the decreases because that would have taken extra transfers that I knew I’d mess up. It needed 49 rows instead of 41 because of the compressed row gauge. https://youtu.be/1WNqgAZCg5o

Release 3: Trying this one on the machine as well, but using stockinette in the diamonds instead of reverse stockinette so that I don’t have to use the ribber. (the yarn was thick enough that it was breaking on the standard machine).

Release 4: Back to hand knitting! A good clue for watching TV.

Release 5: Machine knitted on a similar way to the design, but all in stockinette. This panel biases pretty badly. In retrospect I could have used more stitches or rows or something!

Release 6: This one is machine knitted off piste! I picked a punch card that did a “tuck stitch” and automatically alternated three colors using my yarn changer. The center panel is just the reverse of the top and bottom panel (turned using a garter bar)

Release 7: Machine knitting this with hand manipulation to get the right lace pattern. Pretty similar to as designed except I’m not bothering the lean the decreases.

Release 8: Hand knitting the border, not really caring if I use the same color as an adjacent square. It’s all so colorful that I don’t think it matters. Surprisingly addictive since you get to choose the next color combo yourself!
