I originally tried this on my mid-gauge knitting machine, but the machine doesn’t have a way to catch long floats on the back. I knew my husbands fingers would get caught on them (mine would!) so I decided to hand knit it instead.

Because of those areas with long floats, I recommend you knit this pretty tight actually. I usually try to loosen my fairisle, but this was making the transition between fins and scales really wonky. I started pulling the long, caught floats tighter and everything evened out.
