Snow :-)

This Kal thing is a great push, one I really need, to get inspired to knit up socks again! (I promised my feet, a few years back, to always have a pair of socks on the needles but I have sadly let them down.) I found some long lost cream coloured sock yarn and and was compelled to cast on Bergtrikot sock pattern last night. All this talk of pretty cabled socks in white/ish yarn was all that I needed… well, that and to find my stash of sock yarn!

So, I am knitting them up with a few variations. (2 on 2 needles. This seemed to work for me with the last pair and it is so much easier and quicker to knit them this way!) Larger needles than recommended so I am knitting a 64 stitch sock.

CO I knit a 3 stitch I-cord for about 20 rows, then worked 64 stitches with a live stitch I-cord CO and then knit 20 more rows of I-cord. (Here’s a video of that I-cord CO.)

Leg Since I am doing a 64 stitch sock, the spiraling cable pattern doesn’t work. I decided to do the cable motif every 2nd strip of st.st, instead of every 3rd. Then onto the alternating ones… then knit 8 plain rows before repeating the 16 rows of cabling.

Heel I knit the heel the same as the heel that I did for my Palazzo pair with the reinforced slip stitch design and that great heel of yours. This looks so much tidier in white than it did in a multi-coloured yarn!

From here I broke the yarn and started sock 2. If I don’t do this, I know I will never get the second sock made!

The yarn is gorgeous and feels like it has springs in it! It’s amazingly soft and is a joy to knit:-)
