Normally I would use 3.5mm or 3.75 mm needles! (Depending on the noggin’ size.) 3.25mm for the hem.

Hem

I provisionally CO 128 stitches.(Crochet cast on with scrap yarn.) Join
knit 3 rows with white
knit 5 rows k1w, k2b (black),* k2w, k2b* k1w.
knit 3 rows in white
Purl 1 row with black (fold line)
knit 2 rows black.
knit 5 rows k1b, k2w (white),* k2b, k2w* k1b.
knit 3 rows in black.

Sew in all ends that you can.

Undo the CO, one stitch at a time and put the stitches on a separate Circ. Fold the hem in 1/2 and line up the beginning of round stitches. Knit the front stitch and the back stitch together. Do this for all of the stitches all the way around.

Start chart row# 12 and knit 26 rows of chart. (Just one snow row and the reindeer..to the top of the antlers. I do not include that one lost snowflake!)

knit 4 rows.

From this pattern, start chart on row # 49 and complete it. done:-) (Now charted in my pics.)

I usually put an elastic in the hem after I am done knitting so the hem doesn’t stretch out.
