Finally blocked! After nearly three years, I thought it safe to bring this beauty out of hiding.
I believe I’ll gift it to my Mom…. with the caveat that she must keep it for herself, of course.

When a friend of my Mom’s saw my Morbidly Lovely, she decided she must have one just like it. My dear, wonderful Mother (not being a knitter herself) told her I would gladly make it for her (Oh, AND buy the yarn for it too) completely free of charge (did I mention she’s not a knitter herself?).
I was, somehow (I can’t even begin to imagine how thinking back on it now) talked into buying the yarn (to make matters worse, the stuff I had originally planned to use to make this shawl for myself) and starting the project. However, the further I got on the pattern, the more upset I got about having been forced to knit something so time consuming and relatively elaborate for someone I barely even know. Or anyone, really.
Anyway, I am presently dragging my feet about this project in the hope that I never see this woman again and that my Mother resigns herself to the fact that she’ll simply have to disappoint her friend.
I’m keeping this one for myself!

Almost exactly a year later, I’m working on this again. Maybe I’ll finish it before the cold weather is gone.

I’m so glad to be done with this thing that it might be a few months more before I get around to blocking it.
