Notes

This kind of makes you think of Fangorn Forest or the Ents in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, doesn’t it? :-)

Aug 22: It’s blocked and just waiting to dry. Looks beautiful though the shape is a bit funny since it’s smaller at the center than it is at the ends, but it’s supposed to be that way, so that’s ok. My dimensions are: 21” in the center, 27” on the ends and 81” long. (As opposed to 17”, 29” and 66”) I’m a loose knitter so I knew it would be longer. Plus, I didn’t flare out the ends as much. Love the way it turned out!

July 17: I’m now on Chart B on the 2nd half. I’m at the stage where I no longer need my cable needle. Yippee!

June 13: I passed the halfway point - yeah! I finished up the first half today, knitted up the transition rows in the center (after picking up the provisional cast on stitches) and am now into Take II of Chart A. Woo hoo!

May 25: I’m working on the edging at the end of the first half of the shawl. It’s really coming along!

May 21: 135 rows and I’m almost done with the 3rd repeat on the tree trunks.

May 15: Woo hoo! 84 rows - I’m in to Chart B! It’s beginning to look like the picture - I’m excited!

May 14: 74 rows - almost done with Chart A!

May 12: I’m 54 rows into a 422 row project. guess this time around I really AM at 10%. It’s getting easier as I go along - faster, too. Of course…I’m working my way through the branches and am slowly but surely getting to the tree trunks which have only 1 cable per row, so the pattern simplifies as I go along. Yea!!

I REALLY like this and am having a lot of fun with it. Heck - I’ve even fixed a mistake from about 15+ rows back. I have another one that I’d like to fix, but can’t really until I start the other half since it’ll be easier to fix it from the beginning rather than from where I currently am. Weird, I know, but hey - it’ll work!

I have a green lifeline in at row 34. It blends in well, colorwise, doesn’t it?!

April 12: Pictures added. The yarn color is lighter and brighter than what my picture shows. Gorgeous yarn - I can’t wait to get started. The shawl is very cool and the pattern a tad funky, so I’m reading it over a few times before I get started.

April 8: I’m on vacation and this project is waiting for me in the mail at home. I’ll add pictures as soon as I get there! PROMISE!

I’ve never knit with Lornas Lace yarn before, so I’m really looking forward to casting on!

This is a Year of Lace shawl. The 2009 shawls are absolutely gorgeous with fabulous yarns and beautiful colors. All are variegated in some form or another. The colorways are exclusive to the Year of Lace Subscription. Other kits are:
