For this cowl I used the Split Palm Leaves stitch I found in Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume One.

I knitted almost the whole thing before I realised that my first instinct to knit a row or two of garter at the start was a necessity, the thing rolled up without it so I started it again with one row of purl before I started the stitch pattern, I finished it with another purl row and cast off in knit.

It is now drying, I just spread it without pins or anything.
