Notes

this will be my main project while we travel in Europe. The yarn is very light-weight compared with other lace-weights I’ve used. I really found it difficult to work with - and there were knots in the balls!

I had a lot of trouble with the edges of this. I wanted a contrasting stitch to give it a bit of weight. I tried the same stitch as I’d used here, and also the less-ribby-looking version of that stitch which Ailsa used here. Neither of these were successful - although it feels quite crisp, the yarn was too light to give enough stitch definition. Then I tried moss stitch: ditto. So I’ve gone down to a 3.5mm and made a garter stitch edge. It’s stalled while I decide how to finish it off - maybe some kind of picot edge?

Eventually, I used the first scallop from Mary-Heather’s xeriscape repeated all the way around, picking up a stitch from the garter stitch edge with each turn, and it looks great.
