I have a multitude of skeins left over from previous blankets and I think that using this pattern, I can incorporate all those lovely pastel baby colors into a beautiful whole!

9/8: Cast on tonight. Attempted the 5 stitch in the round thing several times and failed…so I did as another raveler suggested and started with 10 stitches, and that was MUCH smoother and easier to start…it does leave a wee hole, but it seems to fit right in. Started with some of the light blue Caron Simply Soft that I have, and added the varigated Jiffy. Not sure what I’ll add tomorrow…
9/15: Consider using SSK instead of K2tog for any decreases in the edging to slant with the spirals as noted by suna.
9/25: Well, I broke the Lion Brand circ that I was using last night, so….I’m stuck with the Boyle set, which should work ok, but I just hate using them. I miss my Harmonies!!!! WHERE did I pack them???
9/26: Hibernating until I hear if they are expecting a girl or a boy.
9/28: They are 90% sure that it’s a boy, so blue it is!
9/29: I picked up my new Spectra Trendz today! Love ‘em!
10/9: I finally finished the knitting tonight. I still have the ends to weave-in, and washing it. Depending on how it looks after washing, I may try steam blocking it, as the border is curling a bit… :(
Really had a lot of frustration with the border, I knit and tink’ed two times before finally settling on this one…and it curls! sighs
The border is modified from girlwhopurls pinwheel above, except I SSK (not K2tog), and did an extra knit row with yellow and blue every other stitch (my first “stranding” project…hehe!) and then BO loosely with 7.0mm alternately knit/purl as this gives a BO on the edge of the project that I like.
10/25: Finally got this in the wash last night, and I hope to get the ends in tonight or tomorrow. Still thinking about getting a steamer and trying that, especially for the edging, do NOT like the curl!
Really forgot how much I love how soft the Jiffy gets after washing…just so cozy!
