I reverse-engineered some Frozen-inspired hats that I saw posted on Etsy for my little friend, Ella, and her little sister, Audrey….. Unfortunately, I forgot to take good-quality glamor shots of the hats before I gave them to Ella & Audrey. Their mother snapped a few cell phone pictures for me, thankfully!

The Basic Bulky Beanie pattern is perfect! Love love love it.

On the Elsa hat, I crocheted two snowflakes out of cotton yarn (so they’d be stiff without having to use a stiffening agent-- I just don’t think a stiffening agent would hold up to use by a 5-year-old and 1-year-old) and sewed them on to barrettes. That way, Ella can take the snowflakes on and off (and maybe even wear the snowflakes in her own hair!). The big pink flower on the Anna hat is also attached to a barrette and can be taken on and off.

I need to see if I can get a picture of the Elsa hat in brighter light so the sequins (which are woven into the yarn!! so cool!!) show up better. The hat looks so magical with the sequins sparkling in a bright, direct light.
