Notes

2008 - I started this last year and made a lot of progress on a road trip to Colorado last year. I guess I put it down for almost a year now. Not for any good reason other than that I needed to pick up the right kind of circular needles for the next step! I picked those up a few weeks ago and should be getting back into finishing this one soon!

May 2008 - So, I think I probably forgot what size garment I was making…it has been almost a year. So the ribbed band on the bottom is too big and floppy. I will investigate fixing it up a bit with some elastic thread. If that doesn’t work I maybe I’ll frog. Then again it’s sorta a beachy-type garment I don’t expect to wear a ton. It came out really long too…

I have a bit of the feeling that this might be an “ugh”…but it’s okay. Not crazy about it, but it’s soft, it was fun to make, I liked working with the yarn and it looks ok. It’s a step up from an ugh I guess, whatever the word for that is.

I think I’ll probably just frog the rib stitch band and redo with fewer stitches and smaller needles. It can be a temporarily F.O. for a few weeks though.

Put this in storage, not feeling too motivated to fix it cause I can really only see wearing it to the beach or something similar, and I don’t go to the beach much. Maybe motive will strike me next summer.

Based on a add I saw in a knitting magazine I was thinking the solution here might be to rip out the bottom band and re-do it as two separate sides. I think that might make this something I could see myself wearing more often than something I’d wear to a beach or pool (which I never do!) I’ll have to think about it a little more. I really do like the hood and other aspects of this project, I’d like to make it something I use frequently!

May 2010 - This hadn’t really turned out to be something I felt okay wearing. So long, you have to sort of step into it, which is weird, and I screwed up that bottom band, too floppy. So I decided I could stitch it into place to get a nicer length with the added benefit of pockets! Ideally I would like to add some hook and eye clasps, have the two ribbed sections sorta butt into each other, as much as possible. But with the hem I’ve created, this has finally become something I think I will actually wear quite a bit.
