Yvonnet pointed me to this pattern, and I really like it. I like that the reverse stockinette has been turned into garter stitch, and I like that it is small and shallow, and does not call for much yardage. I have about 3-4 oz of a fingering weight handspun singles yarn. The roving was purchased from Zeilinger’s and I dyed it and spun it. again, inspired by yvonnet and her gorgeous handspun singles shawls. No photos yet, as it is dark out. Casting on…

I am really enjoying this project. I love the yarn I chose, it has a lot of browns, and is a rustic single ply. The pattern is well written, and the chart is good, if a bit too small for my middle aged eyes. I misinterpreted a symbol to mean knit in front and back of stitch, when it meant knit in back of stitch. This messed up my stitch count. Thankfully I caught it, and corrected my mistake. Knitting on…

I have finished the shawl, blocked it, and worn it twice! I had two Thanksgivings and wore it to both. Felt very pretty both days, and I am looking forward to wearing this shawl to work.
I really enjoyed knitting this shawl. The pattern is excellent, and the charts clear and easy to follow. The bind off is superb, and I will be using that on lots of things from now on- attractive and quite stretchy. The “U” shape of the shawl as well as the small size make it very wearable. I will be making more shawls of this type, I love it!
Photos:
First two photos, top to bottom, are the shawl blocked. Middle photo shows unblocked shawl with the scarily small amount of yarn left. I was sweating it on the bind off! Bottom two photos show shawl unblocked. It was so pretty unblocked I considered just wearing it that way, but I did soak and wrap it in a towel, and I laid it out on my blocking board with NO PINS and you can see how great it blocked.
