Notes

12/27/09- today I am posting photos of the spun singles. I spun each single from the fat top (no splitting) in order to get the longest color runs in my finished yarn. I am planning to nav ply these singles- hoping for a light worsted weight yarn, as this pattern was written for Cascade 220 and a #7 US needle.

The singles were spun from both colorways of my Mixed Blessings Fall/Winter 2009 fiber club, Nov. 09 installment, Falkland wool fiber base.

Navajo plied the singles, soaked and hung, and got right to the knitting.

I worked the brim on #5 US needles, so it would be a nice, tight rib. Every bit of the colorwork in this hat is worked with just these two yarns. It was fun, and at times challenging, to take a pattern written for 5 colors, and make two yarns do all the work.

I am so pleased with how this hat turned out! It is a bit bigger than the hat is made with Cascade 220, but fits my big head well. The Falkland wool is so silky! And does not prickly me one little bit, I am happy to say.
