A chunky weight core spun handspun yarn. I did regular increases every right side row on either side of the central stitch, and two increases at each edge, on either side of a knit stitch, every right side row. I did this to get that beautiful ‘V’ shape that I adore in shawls. Shawl is knit every row for garter stitch, until last section, where I worked Feather and Fan.
Here are ‘sort of’ instructions…
(pm- place marker)
Cast on 7 sts
Row 1: (K1, yo, k1, yo-these are edge sts), (k1-body st), (yo, pm, k1, pm, yo- center increase), (k1-body st), ( yo, pm, k1, yo, k1-these are edge sts)
Knit WS rows- garter stitch
Row 3: (K1, yo, k1, yo), (k to next marker), (yo, k1, yo- center increase), (k to next marker), (yo, k1, yo, k1-these are edge sts)
Continue double increasing at the beginning and ending of each RS row and and single increasing in the middle, as above.
After I went on like this for awhile, I decided to do a Feather and Fan edging- I do not have any numbers for that, just made it work, continuing my side and center increases as before.
You are doing a double increase at each outer edge to make that V shape, which I find much easier to wear, and so pretty.
This shawl is shallow, and drapes quite well, due to the mohair and the ‘V’ shaping.
