Final review: The sweater is lovely, but, if you are not an experienced knitter, this pattern will NOT spoonfeed you. There are a lot of detaily things that are not spelled out and you kind of have to know enough to make an educated guess. I also wound up modifying it a bit so I didn’t have the correct number of stitches at the end. But overall it’s pretty and I am looking forward to wearing it. The last thing I need to do is reinforce the button holes because they stretch out so much that the buttons do not stay in them. A little sewing thread should fix that.
My mods were the ones I listed below, plus I made it longer. The sleeves still turned out a little loose, but they will be fine. Pictures to come once I get the buttonholes fixed and block it lightly to shape.
I’ve been dying to make a sweater with this yarn because it’s so soft. Cast on my 245 stitches tonight. Whew!
8-27-09 After a bit of a hiatus, I started the waist shaping. I did make the bottom part before the shaping longer than the pattern said, because I do not like short sweaters. Hopefully I made it long enough.
9-13-09 I decided to make the v-neck a lot more shallow. I got my idea from Haveyouanywool’s Decimal. She was kind enough to explain how she did it! I am making notes on mine and will list them here once I get it completed.
April/May 2010 Picked this back up out of my UFOs and decided to try to finish it. Did the bodice as far as I could and now the sleeves are maybe 2/3 of the way done. Not making bell sleeves, but they are still going to be too loose, unfortunately. It is going very slowly as I’m doing both sleeves together and maybe I’ll get to wear it this year.
