Notes

This yarn is so beautiful in person, I’m just so excited to get started!!!

So far, the body is going great. Good lengths of stockinette broken up by needing to concentrate on a cable pattern for about 15-18 stitches, then more stockinette. Did the bias-stitch hem, it was a pain but I think it will be worth the effort in how it will lay once it’s done. Once I have enough cable done to see what it is, I’ll post pics.

The yarn is much darker and greener than the pictures show. This is pretty much the only good lighting I can get in this house this time of year!

Dec 26 - I’ve got the body done to the armpits already! This is going so fast. Just split to do the upper body and shoulders. More later once the body is totally done, probably with updated pics too.

Jan 29 The body is done and I’m all ready to start picking up stitches for the hood. Should take pics now before I start that. It fits me perfectly!

March 27 - After a little bit of a break, I’ve picked this up again. I am finding out that hoods are huge and take forever! But I am getting a lot better at reading a cable chart. It is suddenly making a lot more sense and I don’t have to keep looking up every little thing. I am a little scared about closing up the hood though, so I’m in denial about it!

May 28. I finished the hood! Someone went and spelled out exactly what to do to graft it together. Thankfully I read about that here and it turned out just fine. Getting the very last bit (not the cabled part but the other part) closed was not so good, if I were to do it again I’d have bound off and just stitched it closed. I have started the sleeves and I’m doing them together on a long circ. It’s working out great that way and I will probably never do sleeves any other way after this. Almost done with the charted part and then it’s downhill from there. Can’t wait to get this done! I love it!

June 10. I am done with the knitting. Now for blocking and sewing. Then photos! SO excited to be almost done with this! :D I did make the sleeves a little longer than the pattern stated, I added 6 rows. I have long arms and I don’t like sleeves that ride up. Can’t wait to get this on and get some pictures! I may pick out the final hood close (not the cabled part but the other part) and do it my own way, because it looks really bad right now.

June 11 - blocking. See new pic!

June 12 - seaming!!!!! So far, so good! Pics this weekend! Update - same date - seaming done and I fixed the wonky hood. Wish I’d have done it my way the first time. It’s the only complaint I have about the pattern. Will try to get some good pictures to post this weekend. I LOVE THIS SWEATER!!!
