I just love these warm socks to wear indoor instead of slippers. I have several, but recently I started making them with a removable sole. I knitted it separately with a 100% wool yarn. If those are worn out, the rest of the sock will still be good enough to wear. Therefore I only have to replace the sole when necessary.
