Notes

I love knitting and children’s books and sometimes I see a yarn that makes me immediately think of a book from my past.

The Noro Silk Garden Lite I’m using was purchased from a fellow Raveler’s stash and as soon as I saw it, it made me think of Dorrie the Little Witch. Often these books were printed with only a few colors of ink, as shown in the book photo. The oranges, greens, and greys in the book are mimicked by the Noro colorway.

I haven’t used Noro before, because I have a tendency to not like variegated yarns, but Entrelac seemed the perfect technique to showcase the yarn’s unique color combination. I’m loving how it is turning out.

This will be a large cowl instead of a scarf because I widened the pattern by two additional full rectangles, and I only have four skeins. I simply knit a rectangle as long as I could and then seamed the ends together to make a loop. Originally finished Feb. 10, 2011.

NOTE March 2024:

I found more yarn in my stash and since I don’t wear this often, I decided to un-seam the ends and make the scarf longer. I think it will get more use!
