Why Knooking is NOT Tunisian Crochet

Project info
Knitting

Notes

Quick little sample swatch to show how knooking is NOT tunisian crochet which a lot people apparently think it is. Knooking is just knitting with a hook.
I personally don’t like to call it “knooking” the tool is a knook, but I’m knitting, it’s not a different craft.

did about 8 rows each of tunisian knit stitch and stockinet stitch with the exact same yarn and hook, didn’t even bind off - just went right into the knitting.

Photos in order:
#1: straight off the hook, shows the curling - tunisian is curling more.
#2: front view pinned out all nice and square - note the color pooling/flashing between the top and bottom. Tunisian does a spiraling effect with the colors because there is a whole row hidden on the back side.
#3: back view pinned out square - note the thickness difference.
#4: tried to stretch it with my pins. See how you can see through the knit?
#5: holding the knit side up flat
#6: stretching the knit sideways with my fingers - HOLES! LOL
#7: holding the tunisian side up flat
#8: stretching the tunisian with my fingers - not a lot of stretch and no holes to see through, some of the back side colors show through though.
#9: tunisian stretched the other direction on the back side.
#10: knit stretched the other direction on the back side.
