What a wonderful swap package I received, and so perfectly timed as my grandmother’s funeral “visitation” was tonight and then we came home to water dripping from the living room ceiling seams and sprinkler heads so the smiles and laughs were well appreciated. I just hope my package to her was worthy of all the effort, time and expense she put into mine.

This was an alphabet swap so everything had to relate to the letter “K” for Karen, and Amy worked it all into a Kreative little story. Her research was spot-on, covering my sewing, yarn dyeing, toy making, a pattern I’ve been wanting, and the silliness and love of chocolate & caramel I share with DH.

Rob and I LOVED reading each story card to learn the tale of the Frog King, and figuring out how each colourful package related to the story, to the letter K, and to something she had learned about me. It was all SO well done!

-a prickly Krochet Frog King pin cushion
-a Kit of darning needles, needle holder and safety eyes
-a little owl dish with stitch markers of Keys & leaves
-Kit Kat bars and Kaleidoscope yarn in a rocky colourway…read the card, it’s quite cleaver. Rob ate one of the bars before I even had the next card read. He has declared Amy to be his favourite swap partner; of course he says this every time someone sends treats for him….at least he declares them to be for him.
-a “grassy Knoll“ project bag filled with the next chapters
-Koolaid & rainbow food colouring
-Kelpie Fibres un-dyed merino yarn
-printed instructions for making Unicorn Fart Yarn
-Kraft Golden Caramels - the “golden”part is important it took me a second to remember that they were called “golden”
-a printed doll pattern that I’ve been admiring for a while

So wonderful!

My “A” package to Amy included:

  • since I was on PEI during the swap, I HAD to include some Anne of Green gables stuff. -- an embroidered Anne patch that I used to create a project bag meant to represent the green grass meadows and hay fields of The Island with coordinating wildflower lining. I’ve attached photos, but I didn’t do a great job of the photo shoot. -- a matching accessory pouch with a pewter Anne keyring/scissor clip. These I didn’t photograph at all, oops. Happy coincidence…. Amy says she’s a fan of Anne and has a well-loved set of the books. I’m so pleased! I also sent some PEI and Green Gables post cards. In the pouch I also included a packet of Aquae Soak, custom Amy gift tags, and a small bottle of Ease-out stain remover… For Awesome Accident Amelioration.

  • since I couldn’t send COWS PEI ice cream by mail, I sent some of their “A” parody cartoon post cards instead, “Angry Herds” and “Anne of Green Stables.”

  • Acrylic yarn in Autumn colourway

  • local Atlantic Lobster flavoured chips

  • “A is for Apple…. custom recipe booklet of all A ingredients, several with double and triple-word scores, like Apple-Apricot-Almond something-or-other. I included my family favourite “Apple Betty” and a few campfire and trail mix recipes since I know they like camping and hiking.

  • “An Adorable Anthropomorphic Alpaca Activity kit” complete with Anthropomorphized Alpaca toy pattern; Alpaca yarn, hand-dyed in Auburn, and atrementous Black; and wool in Azure blue, and Alfalfa green for her bikini & dress (her accoutrements). I included a message that accomplishing this awesome activity will fill her with a sense of achievement and that in posting it to Ravelry, she will be awarded applause and adoration.“ My adorable husband excels at alliteration.

I also added mini alphabet packages for her little ones…

  • A Little Lamb for Liam
  • a Burly Bear for Ben
  • a Nifty Narwhal for Natalie phewf…. It was hard to come up with that one.

Amy reports that “Ben has not let it out of his sight since he got it and Nat got super excited and said it was a unicorn bird… when I tried to explain what a narwhal is she said “oh! so it’s a unicorn bird that lives in the sea?” LOL. The kids were so stoked that they each got a little bag :)”

That’s just awesome!
