Notes

Since my grandmother; who taught me the bare basics of knitting; passed today, I’ve decided to abandon my other projects and housework and make this cute mouse, For myself, in a cheerful tonal orange that I dyed a while back.

The yarn was labeled “worsted”but it’s more of a sport/DK, yet Mousie is still turning out a little bigger than expected. She’ll be fine though, if the recommended yardage is correct, I should have plenty of yarn dyed.

AUG 11:
Bonnie is complete, and she’s adorable! I thought the eyelids would make her look too sad, but she pulls them off. From some angles she looks a little pensive or lonely, but from others she looks curious and contented. And DH discovered that she likes doing summersaults.

with her legs attached so far apart she doesn’t sit very lady-like and isn’t well balanced for sitting up on her own, which is surprising, she looked like she’d sit well. If I make her again, highly likely, i’ll probably put her legs a stitch further forward, probably the arms too.

The little flower button was perfect for finishing her off, she was a little plain and incomplete without it, but now she’s perfect!

She is very photogenic! DH says; “The camera loves her and she loves the camera…. she’s gonna be a star on Ravelry!”

Oh…. And I tried putting plastic pellets in her feet, wrapped in a little polyfil. It adds a little weight to them, but not much. increases their dangling ability a little. I’ve not found any of the heavier recommendations people have for weighing their toys. And the few I’ve found online are way more expensive than people say they’ll be. Loose buckshot is probably the best suggestion I’ve seen, but can’t find it anywhere around here, and it’s probably full of lead.

Aug 18:
Nannie’s “visitation” thing and funeral/memorial are tomorrow & the next day. I’m taking pocket-sized knit toys to keep all the great grand kids company, and I think I might sneak Mousie in in my pocket.
