Notes

I see more of these cuties in my future. My coworkers (one in particular) went nuts for them.

This was my first, maybe second, time using fingering and lace weight yarns and teeny tiny needles. SO TEDIOUS! But the little one is cute and deserves a little sibling or ten. Besides, i bought a bunch of lovely superfine tonal yarns, I mustn’t let them go to waste.

I designed my own ears for them, didn’t like the shapeless ears from the pattern.

Oh…and I altered the pattern to knit in the round, eliminating all the seams.

I made these up as I went along and this is my first attempt at writing out something from memory so feel free to ask if you’re confused or if you find a mistake.

Bunny ears:
(make 1 for a disabled bunny, 2 for a traditional bunny, or 3 for an alien bunny)

-℅ 8 sts, leaving enough tail to sew ears to the head. Join in the round (8)
-Knit 2-4 rounds, depending on the height you want for the ears, mostly I’ve used 3. (8)
-(KFB, K1, KFB, K1) repeat (12)
-Knit 1 round
-(KFB, K3, KFB, K1) repeat (16)
-Knit 3-6 rounds depending on how round and squat or long and skinny you want the ears to look. This is especially important to consider if you’re making a family, since ears lengthen as bunnies grow up, or if you want distinctly different looks and personalities for your bunnies. (16)
-(SSK, K4, K2TOG) repeat (12)
-Knit 1 round (12)
-(SSK, K2, K2TOG) repeat (8)
-Knit 1 more round for a taller, pointier ear, or skip this for a rounder tip. (8)
-(SSK, K2TOG) repeat (4)
-Thread the yarn tail through remaining stitches & tighten, hide the tail in the ear.
