I simplified this pattern by reducing the number of stitches, using larger needles, omitting the side panels & the arched sole, and shortening the leg. Whew! I used a short row heel and round toe. I’m so pleased with the result!
The two bottom pictures are pre-blocking. Although I didn’t test for colorfastness before beginning it happily turned out that this yarn is colorfast in the machine on a cold setting (85oF) with Cheer BrightClean. Also, the yarn bloomed and softened tremendously after machine washing.
Details
CUFF
Long tail c/o 64 sts (white).
Rd 1-12: K2, P2 (white).
Rd 13, increase round: K8, M1 around = 72 sts (white).
LOGO BAND
Change to navy. Work rows 1-16 of NY logo chart 6x around.
Important!! stranding for logo chart: LH white, RH navy.
PINSTRIPES
Pinstripes: knit 3 white, 1 navy, repeat around.
Important!! stranding for pinstripes: LH navy, RH white.
- working w/4 needle distribution set up so N2 begins w/1 navy and N3 ends w/3 white (18+18 = 36 sts instep).
- working w/3 needle distribution set up so N2 begins w/1 navy and ends w/3 white (36 sts instep).
Work 25 rounds pinstripes.
HEEL
Move 1 navy stitch from back to front at end of instep stitches. You now have 37 instep stitches, beginning & ending with 1 navy. There should be 35 heel stitches, beginning & ending with 3 white.
Work short row heel on 35 stitches (white).
FOOT & TOE
After completing heel keep beginning of round at side and resume pinstripes on instep and sole. Work 41 rounds of pinstripes, 1 round of all navy = 42 rounds.
Continue solid navy and work round toe (28 rows). Begin toe on the side where the round begins.
