Notes

Not really a fan of knitting top-down garments but I couldn’t resist this sweater so I did a little bit of customization which worked out quite well. Kudos to the person who invented the provisional cast-on!

Mods

Neck
• started with provisional cast-on; 162 sts, #3.75mm.
• after completing the sweater I returned the 162 provisional sts to the needle; worked 5 rows 1x1 rib, decreasing to 122 on first rib row, #2.75mm.
• traditional bind-off, #3.25mm.

Body
• finished bottom edge with 12 rows 1x1 rib, #3.75mm.

Yoke
• no mods, #3.75mm.

Sleeves
• centered motif, widened central color block area, #3.75mm.
• used 2x1 Cross Stitch Ribbing for cuff, #3.0mm.

Blocking

Soaked in cold water in small sink with ⅔ cup of white vinegar and no other products. Although I had prewashed the yarn to get out excess dye the black yarn did not stop bleeding until I used vinegar so I didn’t want to take any chances with the finished sweater.
Because the yarn I used was superwash the sweater was enormous when removed from the sink. I put it in my washing machine (with clean, wet, flat cotton dishtowels) on the Spin cycle for 7 minutes. Removed from the washer and put the sweater and dishtowels in the dryer. I added three felt dryer balls and dried for about 10 minutes until the sweater was almost completely dry. It went right back to the original size.

Needles

3.75mm Addi Long Tip IC circ 32” (yoke, body)
3.75mm HiyaHiya dpns 6” (sleeves)
3.25mm HiyaHiya bamboo circ 24” (neck bind-off)
3.0mm Inox/Prym dpns 6” (rib cuffs)
2.75mm Addi Rocket circ 32” (neck ribbing)
