This adorable top will be perfect for Jojo’s 4th birthday! She loves pink and I think it will fit her just perfectly.
I originally planned to knit the entire top in Damask, but it just seemed like it would be too much pink so I added in graduated Natural stripes. It does a good job of breaking up the color and makes it feel very girly. The Natural stripes are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 rows wide and the Damask rows are always 2 rows wide. After purling the row around the bottom, I knit 7 more rows in Natural to make sure the entire bottom stripe was part of the turned hem. I worked the stripes without working any jogless technique since the stripes were just too thin and it looked funny.
I love the construction and design of this top. Very simple and quick to knit! I made the button hole a bit smaller just to make sure the button wouldn’t pop out. For the button hole I did the following:
Button hole row 1: k3, bo4, k3
Button hole row 2: p3, co4, p3
Ended up the perfect size. I picked out a rather expensive button for this top, but the color just matched perfectly so I couldn’t resist. I bought the button from Snow Goose Yarns in Milton, MA.
