Shoot! Christmas was 4 days away, and we still didn’t know what to give my Dad. Then we recalled him telling people that the things that have been made for him are his most precious possessions.

Rummaged in the stash and came up with a skein of Wool Ease in a gorgeous deep green.

Cast on 48 sts.
1x1 rib for 26 rows.
Stockinette for 11 rows, then
K24, kfb, k22, kfb, k1
Knit around
K24, kfb, k24, kfb, k1
knit around

k51, wrap and turn.
Short row heel to 12 unwrapped stitches.
Once heel is done, knit 1 row around, then
K24, k2tog, k to last 2, ssk
Knit around
repeat decrease row

Continue in stockinette over 48 sts for 30 rows
Switch to alternate color, knit 3 rows
k2tog, knit 22, ssk, repeat
Knit one row.
Continue decreasing, alternating knit rows with decrease rows twice more.
Then decrease every row to 12 stitches, kitchener shut. Weave in ends.

We decided we liked the purl side best, and I did a most excellent job weaving in the ends, so we’re going with the inside as the “right side.”
