Notes

Test knit for Hiroko.

It is an addictive pattern, I love the great fading possibilities with the helix held double.

This is not a beginners project. But if you are an intermediate adventurous knitter, you will be fine.

As always theres a lot of smart features in the beginning, and it is a good idea to follow the instructions closely to get the setup right. I messed up the pick up columns for the button bands for 10 cm at the top. It was nbd in the end, but it saves a lot of time and it is easier and neater when you can be guided by it :)

Due to my own inattention I had to frog and re knit part of the yoke. The yarn still holds up. But you want to avoid it, there’s a lot of small yarn bits due to the colour changes, so it is better to pay attention.

I had go go down needles to match gauge.

I added 5 cm of length to the body and some cm to the sleeves because it is more flattering on me.

The steeking technique with the facing was new to me and I loved the process. It is all explained in the pattern.
I did a video of the steek, it is available in my stories on Instagram > @achkaknitting

Tips:
For colour changes I knit three strands together over 6-7 stitches. Although this is an excellent way of joining in new yarn without weaving in ends, it created a rather thick fabric for the steek to be hidden inside the facing. I think just dropping the yarn in the middle of the steek section and pick up the next will do with this yarn, as it stick together juste fine.

My collar stands up a bit, and I like it, as it enhances my neck. However, be aware that the collar has been reworked in the pattern after the testknit was done and instructions will make a shorter neckline.
