Notes

26-07-2020

I’ve made these gloves using a new Shetland wool which I bought within the suppliers farm shop and cafè in the islands. The wool has gorgeous colours which drew me in immediately and I’ve made a pair of traditional Shetland gloves. The wool is thicker than 4ply I usually knit gloves with though this means they knitted up quick.
I love the descriptive names chosen by the Mackenzies for each colour and the story behind them.
I photographed the gloves the other night after 9.00pm out in hill amongst the Bell Heather which compliments so well the colour palette used.

I bought a 100g for main colour but I’ve used 40g of it only for these gloves.
I have lots of wool left and plan on doing some fingerless gloves.
