Notes

I used what I think is the “normal” M1L and M1R. I did the M1L (pick up the bar from the front, knit through the back) first, M1R (pick up the bar from the back, knit through the front) on the end of the sole. I like the way it turned out.

I found it really confusing that it said to go to two stitches before the last wrapped stitch and then wrap and turn, so you’re wrapping every other stitch. But then when it says to stop with the heel cup, it says to stop when all but four stitches have been wrapped. But only half the stitches are wrapped. But the heel flap seems to be the size pictured in the pattern picture and in the projects, and the cup comes a bit up my heel, so I’m hoping this is right. If I wrapped every stitch, the heel cup would be twice as long, which doesn’t seem right.

I didn’t know which bind-off to use, and chose Tubular Bind-Off for 1×1 Ribbing on this page. It was really, really tight and horrible to frog.

Instead I used The Elastic Bind-Off from this page. It is a bit frilly, but calmed down during blocking. It is elastic enough, which after the previous attempt made it acceptable.

The legs of the socks were very, very tight when I finished. I bought sock stretchers and soaked the socks for 10-15 minutes and then put them on the stretchers. The feet were longer than the stretchers - I hope this is OK - and the legs went around the stretchers easily. I have to wait for them to dry to try them to see if the legs are wide enough and the feet not too big…..
