I’m happy with my mods (ribbed edges instead of rolled, color block arms and edges, the back of an owl on the back), and the sweater looks good on the kid.

This is for an intarsia class at Trumpet Hill, but I want to get the back and sleeves done before the class because I also want to use it for a finishing techniques class that meets the following weekend!

I am doing a 2x2 rib instead of rolled hem, collar, and cuffs, because I just have an unreasonable hatred for rolled edges -- too much J. Crew in the late 80s/early 90s, maybe. I am also considering striping the back like TheKnittingMill’s. Actually, having just looked at hers again, I might just rip out my ribbing and do contrast edges like she did. Hmmm.

Class was great! Intarsia is fun but kind of a huge pain in the ass. I’m really liking how the colors work together -- I think I probably did better using odds and ends than I would have if I picked colors for the project. I’d have overthought it.

Finished the front, then had to design the back of the owl. I think I did ok … Luckily I have a pad of knitter’s graph paper from Schoolhouse Press (scroll all the way down), so I could work it out relatively accurately. Working through the back now.

I finished all the knitting back in the summer and put off seaming until it was cold enough for him to wear it. And of course it took even longer for me to take photos!
