Notes

My first attempt at a hanging ornament cover. I enstimated a 4” diameter ball, and 9 sts/in 12 rows/in. Planned 48 rows and 72 stitches.

I used 2 ends of very fine yarn (2/30??) for each color, and SS3.

After hanging a cast on rag, I cast on EON from L36 to R36 and then knitted 5 rows. Brought remaining stitches into work and began fair isle, for ~36 rows. Transfered EOS to next needle and continued in single color, EON for 6 rows. Transfer tool cast off. Stitched sides together, inserted ball, closed up ends.

OK for first attempt. The bottom (the cast on edge) is very ruffly and loose, didn’t want to pull in and looks messy. Lots of laddering, which could be helped by adding some 1x1 color background. Also perhaps thicker yarn and looser stitches.
