I needed a hat to complement a knitted scarf for an exchange project with the knitters guild. I had been given two skeins of Vikki Howell’s Sheepish yarn. I decided to weave the crown with my Hazel Rose Looms (3.5” diamond and triangle). I stitched 8 diamonds with the plum yarn into a circle and filled in the edges with triangles made with the blue yarn. I then picked up stitches with size 7 circular knitting needles. In true experimental fashion, I didn’t write down number of stitches picked up. I think it was around 100. I knit for about 4 or 5 inches and then thought I should decrease, so I decreased 10 stitches. I had planned to do a couple more rows and do some more decreases and then finish with ribbing at edge. But when I put the stitches onto a larger cable, so I could try it on, I decided I liked the rolled brim. I knit another round or two and bound off.
