Notes

I enjoy weaving Nature’s most perfect shape--the
hexagon--using looms from Hazel Rose Looms. I use two tumbling block diamonds and two equlateral triangle for each hexagon When I found that Gabi at Bluebonnet Crafters was making hexagon shape looms, I was excited that I could do the hexagons all in one piece! I ordered the three size of hexagons at that time. When the order came and I saw the tiny turtle loom, I knew I had the perfect project for my annual Christmas ornament--a turtle to carry the message that “slow and steady wins the holiday race.”

I wove one piece with a variegated silk yarn and a second with a solid wool yarn. I sandwiched in a felt turtle body and stitched the pieces together, lightly stuffing with fiberfill before finishing the join. I added a bow and rhinestone bead to make the turtle sparkle.
