The mat was actually the first one I did after I got the 3.5” equilateral triangle. I didn’t realize when designing it, that if I had made the red triangles that come off the center with the same yarn as the center section that I would have created the illusion of greater motion. One day I will get back to this design to make a whirling pinwheel.

June, 2015….I made a prototype out of paper…this will be whirligig #2 at some point.
