The hat part can be any hat pattern. In this case, it was the “Ethan” pattern from “Quick Caps: 7 Crochet Designs” by Barbara Shaffer, in a multi-shade blue medium weight yarn.

The fox is based on the “Red Fox” pattern by June Gilbank. I made it in bright orange with white feet. I didn’t stuff it, since I wanted the fox to conform to the wearer’s head and not just be a stuffed animal stuck on a hat. But stuffing the head would have been a good idea.

The tail is a spiral pattern I found somewhere on the web.
