I prefer more different designs than this pattern offered so added designs from different sources.
Square 1 - Clue #1 from KAL, diagonal garter stitch, made 6 in various colours, plus #7 & #9, which are almost the same as square 1.
Square 2 - Diagonal Basketweave, beige, Vogue Knitting Stitchionary, pattern 162.
