Notes

3/22/2009: Was seduced by the yarn and had to have it.

3/30/2009: Cast on. Finished the set up rows and the 1st repeat of section 2. Am now 9 rows into the 2nd repeat of section 2. This pattern really does fly. So easy, and the colors in this yarn are really quite beautiful. I can’t wait to get it out in the sunlight with the dress for photographs. Just gotta find that pesky memory chip or go buy a new one.

3/31/2009: Finished repeat #3 of Section 2. Must find memory chip. This yarn is sooooo pretty.

4/6/2009: Finished repeat#6 of section 2.

4/8/2009: Finished repeat #7 and half of repeat #8. Planning to do 9.5 total repeats. I think that should make good shawl length…I think. I’ll measure and find out.

4/12/2009: Finished section 2 and am about to begin section 3, the straight section. Can’t wait to drop my first set of stitches. I’ve been watching Torchwood S2 while knitting this clapotis. So it has lots of good mojo.

4/17/2009: I forgot I was on section 3 and knit 3 more rows of section 2. So I completed the section and ended up doing 10.5 increases (131 stitches). Oh well. I remembered to stop increasing and have turned the corner and dropped my first stitches! So pretty. Now to get to the next drop.

4/19/2009: Had a Lord of the Rings fangirl weekend. Watched each of the extended editions on Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday night respectively. I have now knit my eternal love for Samwise Gamgee into this clapotis. Current width measurement without blocking or dropping all the stitches is 20 inches. Should block out to about 30 inches I imagine.

4/22/09: Dropped the 5th set of stitches…

4/26/09: 6th dropped column, done!

5/5/09: 8th dropped column, closing in on that halfway mark (9 drops is, I think, the halfway…)

5/10/09: 11th dropped column….3-4 more straight section repeats then I can start the decrease! 12 days until the wedding….

5/11/09: 12th column dropped

5/12/09: 13th column dropped…inching ever closer

5/17/09: 14th column dropped. 2 rows left before dropping the 15th column. I’m suddenly glad I have that 2 hour car ride to Santa Barbara and a 2 hour layover in LAX Tuesday.

6/25/09: Will this thing never end??? Why can’t I knit with my mind. I’ve never wanted to be psychokinetic before…decreasing is going faster though. Will finish before Christmas, I’m certain. If not, someone please kill me.

08/09/09: It’s done! It’s done! Oh my gosh it’s done!!!

3/12/2010: Have now purchased a rust colored blazer, a burnt orange cardigan, and a coral tank top just so I can wear this scarf more often. I really do love it!
